There are reasons why your claim might not be approved. Atlas Nomads medical insurance is not designed to replace your primary healthcare or domestic insurance plans. In general, pre-existing conditions are excluded* from coverage, as well as:

  • Pre-existing illness or disability
  • Mental health disorders
  • Sexual health matters
  • Substance abuse
  • Self-harm
  • Extreme sports injury
  • Routine medical care
  • Drunk driving
  • Dental treatment, except under a covered emergency
  • Elective or non-critical surgeries (e.g. medical tourism)

How Atlas Nomads Medical Insurance Works

If the need arises, here’s how you use your travel insurance policy. Full details are available in your welcome packet. 

  1. Book your travel and purchase Atlas Nomads insurance.
  2. Sign up for a Member Portal account.
  3. Contact us if you need travel assistance.
  4. Give your medical ID card to your provider if you need to seek medical treatment.
  5. Request your medical records and an itemized bill, or receipts if you must pay up front.
  6. Submit a claim along with supporting documentation.
  7. Allow our claims team time to assess your situation and make a determination of your claim.
  8. Receive disbursement of any eligible benefits (or file an appeal if you disagree with the outcome of your claim).
